Pink Salt is a Himalayan Salt mined from the Punjab region in Pakistan. It gets its pinkish tint from trace minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, and iron. Pink Salt in Hindi is known as Sendha Namak. Its color ranges from pale pink to deep-tinted red. It has a coarse, grainy texture with large crystals. Apart from cooking, Pink Salt is also used in making decorative salt lamps and spa treatments. It is believed that the deposits of Himalayan salt were first discovered by the army of Alexander the Great. However, the first records of mining Himalayan Rock Salt come from the Janjua Clan in the 1200s. Some people also use slabs of Himalayan Salt to present and serve food.
