What do you think ice cream is made up of ?

Yeah, I know the question I have put up is very silly, you must be thinking that I am mad and I don’t know the answer to a simple question. The answer to this stupid question is interesting to trust me this fact would bloom you!

So now let’s come to the point! Ice cream is made up of cream and not milk. Yeah, it’s true! Generally, when we make ice cream at home as at mine. We make from milk and not cream but when ice cream is commercially manufactured it is made from cream and not milk. I feel that this is the only reason why it is named as ice cream, not ice milk.

WHAT IS SUGAR?
Sugars are the basic building blocks of carbohydrates. Sugars are found in nature like honey, fruits, vegetables, milk. There are various types of sugar monosaccharides (glucose, fructose, galactose) and disaccharide (lactose, maltose, sucrose).

Fructose – found in fruits and honey
Glucose – found in honey, vegetables and fruits
Sucrose – found from plants like sugarcane and beet
Lactose – found in milk
Maltose – found in barley

The function of sugar is to provide sweetness, used as a natural preservative, react with other ingredients and give colour and flavour even provide texture and structure to baked products.

Difference between brown sugar and white sugar is common question for the people. Difference between both sugars is that white sugar does not contain molasses but brown sugar contain molasses which makes it more nutritious and cheaper comparative to white sugar.

REASON OF GETTING SLICED APPLES AND POTATOES GO BROWN

Sliced apples or potatoes go brown this is due to oxidation effect. This effect leads to cell damage of product. To prevent this reaction antioxidants are used. The substance which inhibit the oxidising agent and reduces the deterioration rate by preventing the cell damage of food are called antioxidants. The function of antioxidants is to prevent food from oxidation effect. Antioxidants are food additives which are used as preservatives that protect the cells. It helps to prevent colour, texture, flavour, nutrients, taste of food.

Ascorbic acid, tocopherols are natural antioxidants. Many synthetic antioxidants are also available in market. Even keeping slices in water delays browning.

DID YOU EVER think THAT, WHY SUGAR-FREE PRODUCT TASTE IS SWEET? DOES IT CONTAINS SUGAR?

People say it does not contain sugar, but the taste is sweet. If it contains sugar then why people say that it is sugar-free? What is the reason behind it? Will the diabetic patient able to consume it? There are many questions related to this topic. So today I will talk about sugar-free. Sugar-free are the synthetic/artificial sweetener which is used as substitute for sugar in products.

Derived from naturally occurring substances, such as herbs or sugar itself. Sugar alcohols such as sorbitol, xylitol, isomalt, maltitol, polydextrose etc. Some artificial sugar such as aspartame and saccharine are also used as a substitute for sugar. These type of sugars are used to make sugar free product and the diabetic patient can also able to consume.

Diabetes is a disease in which the level of glucose in blood are not controlled by a hormone called insulin, which is made by the pancreas. So this cause rise of glucose level in blood. This is the reason that diabetic person are not able to consume normal sugar but they can consume synthetic sugar or sugar alcohols because they are absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and metabolised independently of insulin.

Even the sugar alcohols have good dental property that they are not fermented by oral bacteria, less decrease in pH and due to these demineralisations of dental enamel does not occur Food Facts.

WHY PEOPLE SAY THAT DRINKING WATER FROM EARTHEN POT IS BENEFICIAL?

My granny used to tell me that drinking water from earthen pot is beneficial, but I feel that this fact is older than even my granny. I feel that in 21st century some people don’t know about this or some know about fact but they don’t drink water of earthen pot or they may not be aware of benefits of earthen pot water.

So here are some benefits of drinking water from earthen pot. Obviously, you know that our earth is full of minerals and vitamin. Using that clay rich in mineral and vitamin the earthen pots are made. So just imagine how much beneficial it would be? As the nature of the clay is alkaline and cool so the water of the earthen pot will be low in pH and cool and that will positively affect our body.

Generally in summers one should drink this water to prevent from heat. According to some researches water in plastic bottle contains a chemical called bisphenol. Actually this chemical is used to make plastic bottles but researchers says that this chemical is transferred to the food product which is present in it.

This chemical is harmful to human. So even one more benefit is added to the water of earthen pot that it is chemical-free. So I think we can conclude it, that water of earthen pot is more nutritious and beneficial.

WHAT ARE ANTIOXIDANTS?

Antioxidants are the substance added in food to prevent oxidation. These are the substance that can help to prevent or slow down the damage of cells caused by free radicals, unstable molecules that the body produces as a reaction to environmental and other pressure. Mostly the antioxidants are used in the products which contain oil.
