Trikatu comes from the Sanskrit words “Tri” (three) and “Katu” (hot and pungent). It is a traditional Ayurvedic blend made from three spicy herbs in equal amounts. These include Black Pepper (Kali Mirch – Piper nigrum), Long Pepper (Pippali – Piper longum), and Dry Ginger (Saunth – Zingiber officinale).
Trikatu Churna helps clear excess mucus and balances Kapha Dosha in the respiratory and digestive systems. It also boosts digestion by stimulating the stomach to release digestive enzymes, which help break down food and improve appetite.
For best results, Trikatu Churna should be taken with lukewarm water or honey. However, be careful with the dosage—since it is very hot in nature, taking too much may cause gastric irritation or a burning sensation in the stomach.
Ingredients :-
- Kali Mirch (Piper nigrum – Black Pepper) – Enhances bioavailability of nutrients and supports respiratory health.
- Pippali (Piper longum – Long Pepper) – Boosts metabolism, relieves congestion, and aids digestion.
- Sonth (Zingiber officinale – Dry Ginger) – Reduces bloating, improves digestion, and detoxifies the body.
Benefits :-
1. Cough
Cough is a common problem and is considered a Kapha disorder in Ayurveda. It usually happens due to mucus buildup in the respiratory tract. Trikatu Churna helps manage cough and cold by clearing mucus, opening airways, and making breathing easier. This is because it helps balance Kapha Dosha in the body.
2. Indigestion
In Ayurveda, indigestion is called Agnimandya, which happens due to an imbalance of Pitta dosha. When food is not properly digested because of weak digestive fire (Mand Agni), it creates Ama (toxins) in the body, leading to indigestion.
Trikatu Churna is one of the best Ayurvedic remedies for indigestion. It helps by increasing appetite (Deepan) and improving digestion (Pachan), making it easier for the body to break down food and absorb nutrients.
3. Asthma
Asthma is a condition where the airways become swollen and narrow, making it hard to breathe and causing coughing. In Ayurveda, Vata and Kapha doshas are responsible for asthma. When Vata combines with Kapha in the lungs, it blocks the airways, leading to breathing problems. This is called Swas Roga (asthma). Trikatu Churna helps by reducing Kapha, clearing excess mucus, and making breathing easier.
4. Obesity
Obesity happens due to unhealthy eating habits or lack of exercise. Poor digestion leads to the buildup of Ama (toxins), which turns into excess fat in the body, causing weight gain. According to Ayurveda, this is an imbalance of Meda Dhatu (fat tissue). Trikatu Churna helps digest toxins (Ama), improve digestion, and boost metabolism, which supports weight loss and prevents obesity.
5. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
IBS is a common digestive disorder that affects the large intestine, causing cramps, bloating, gas, diarrhea, or constipation. In Ayurveda, IBS happens due to an imbalance in Pachak Agni (digestive fire). Trikatu Churna improves digestion, strengthens Pachak Agni, and helps relieve IBS symptoms due to its appetizer (Deepan) and digestion-boosting (Pachan) properties.
